My biggest annoyance with Dark Souls 3, as I wrote in our PC Performance Analysis, was the complete lack of proper keyboard on-screen indicators. While the game runs great and is really enjoyable with keyboard+mouse (thanks mainly to the more precise camera movement), it only displays gamepad buttons, thus making menu navigation a nightmare. So I’m happy to report today that a mod is currently under development that will address this issue.

  1. Mod engine users require an extra step to be able to play online: Locate the 'modengine.ini' file in the game folder and open it with any text editor. In the Online section, where it says 'blockNetworkAccess=1', replace the 1 with a 0.
  2. Dark Souls 3 Tweak is a tool for Dark Souls III, created by Kaldaien. Description: Dark Souls 3 Tweak it a tool that allows you to configure and optimize Dark Souls III’s graphics in far bigger way than what the regular game’s menu offers.
  3. Dark Souls III Tiny Souls gameplay. Featured in a set of Challenge Mods, the Size Modifier mod allows you to change your character size into either a gargantuan behemoth that can barely fit a single area, to an insect-like creature that would undoubtedly be crushed under enemies’ feet if the game were slightly more realistic.

Cinders: This mod is basically THE Dark Souls 3 mod. This was specifically created for players who had seen everything that the game had to offer and found themselves needing more. Cinders change the vast majority of the game. For example, it alters the progression through each of the game's areas, new enemy and boss stats and placements.

Created by modder ‘kelester’, this mod for Dark Souls 3 changes the icons for the PC version. However, this mod is not complete yet. For example, there are some issues with currency of letters (the game shows Roll as “Q” for example) and some icons have not been changed yet. After all, and as the title, suggests, this is a WIP mod.

Still, this is better than nothing and we are pretty sure that those using keyboard and mouse – instead of a gamepad – will really appreciate this mod. It’s just sad that FromSoftware never officially addressed this issue and we have to rely on mods in order to properly play the game with this specific control scheme.

I seriously hope that FromSoftware’s next title, SEKIDO, will be more friendly to keyboard and mouse players. Because, and as we’ve said countless times, these third-person games can be fully enjoyable with keyboard and mouse. Java se development kit 8 update 101 (64 bit) key.
